As we recently covered blackberry services and devices in our post BlackBerry in Pakistan and noticed that BlackBerry STORM was missing from the available devices for most of the operators.

So we finally have BlackBerry Storm available from Mobilink (I am assuming others will follow steps soon) but the price for device is an extra ordinary 55,000 rupees, yup you read it correct its not a typo a BlackBerry Storm from Mobilink will cost you Fifty Five Thousand Rupees

it costs about 450 USD (which is about 36900 rupees at today’s conversion rate of 82 per 1 USD) networked unlocked in USA http://www.expansys-usa.com/d.aspx?i=175273. You can also get one from open market at about same rate of 36,000 Rupees. I understand that there is a price for being first owners but this device has been released like ages ago, charging a 40% premium on original price is not some thing called for. I wish we see other operators try to normalize this price.

Recently there has been a growing love for Apple products in Pakistan, with iPod with teenagers a common site you also see a lot of professionals and executives turning to MacBooks for their choice of note books. as is the case with the increase in demand the supply side is also answering and we are seeing a lot of Apple stores opening around.

we a couple of months back did an account to visiting the IStore at Gulberg, i found another one at cavalry and visited it read the review after the link

The store is just right side of the Cavalry Bridge if you are coming from Gulberg site, its very easy to miss if you are not looking for it

Apologies for the quality of picture but this is all i could snap while in a hurry, its in the basement of a plaza.

When i went in i was greeted by a very friendly staff, the change in attitude of sales staff is always welcoming even at the gulberg store the staff was very good, not only were they friendly but they knew exactly what they were talking about.

This was no different either, I was looking for a pair of headphones, talked to the sales person he showed me variety, after choosing what i was looking for it was inevitable for mee to look around, i played with their macs and ipods while the sales person constantly without getting irritated told me the specs.

Space inside is little smaller than the Gulberg store but they have the whole range on display from imac to mac mini. and ipods. They also had some accessories going for mac some them had me drooling

Fortunately the owner was also around so i chated with him, he assured me that they provide full apple warranty for products they sell have all the collection they were waiting at the time for new macs to arrive.

Overall it was a pleasant experience with enough choices for apple fans to buy their stuff. Give them a visit if you do, let us know how you found it.

We are still waiting on official iphone launch in Pakistan (though hafeez center is full of second hand ones) but to get legal new one wont be a bad idea, lets see how long it takes

Review of the Apple Authorized Mac Store in Lahore

On a Saturday morning when i had nothing better to do I went to the Apple Authorized Retail Store on MM Alam road in Lahore.

It is located just near the mobilink head quarter that is also called Mobilink House, On the road where you move from the mini market to Main Market Gulrberg.

How did it fare read after the link.

The staff at the store was very courteous, I kept pestering them for half an hour about every single apple product and they did not frown over it, a very welcome thing. Most of the times I have felt people in big chains or brand stores become arrogant or maybe its taught to them to keep the aura of the place being for a select elite or regulars.

The store had collection of almost most of the popular IPod products and the good thing was they had Earphones plugged in to their most popular product line IPod, so you could actually try out what you want.

For Mac and Macbooks they had every thing on and had no issues if you played around each system for a while and I really had a field day, before that day I had never seen an IMac up close or the Mac Pro with the gorgeous 30 inch screen. And these products really made me realize what makes people go wow over their products and I realised they really do the finishing perfectly.

The accessories collection for the IPods were limited and I have found local gift stores carrying better variety and collection of accessories some thing which they should definitely try to improve.

Also they would be able to cater for your international warranties if you had bought an Apple product from abroad and want to take it to them for repairs or warranty claim.

Another good benefit they had that if you wanted a customized Mac or Mac Book you can give them the customized offer and they can get you the latest system with in 3 weeks of giving the order (That means you can get your hand on the latest IMac released recently with in three weeks if you have the cash to buy it )

A good place offering Apple fans a chance to enjoy their wishes right here in Pakistan

The Latest IPod shuffle hitting stores in two weeks time

New Shuffle

There were times when to get a new released laptop or gadget you had to wait for some of your relative and friend to come over to Pakistan and bring your wish in his luggage. But times have changed we now get latest gadgets not even at times in sync with the latest release or atleast within weeks, no longer you have to shmooze your aunt to bring it from abroad.

The latest released IPod Shuffle should be hitting Pakistan within 3 weeks. Raffles the Authorized Apple Retail store here confirmed this that they should have the Shuffle on sale with in three weeks. And I am guessing our online retailers and other gift stores wont be behind on this.

So lets see how fast it gets here.
