PTCL has apparently changed its EvDO Device few months after its launch read our previous coverage
PTCL Launches USB Device for EvDO Connections.
The new device looks good sleeker than the previous one, in competition with the one Worldcall Launched in lahore
Sketchy details on the website indicate some kind of voice capability on the device continue reading for a picture of old device and detailed PTCL add.
Here is the quote from PTCL regarding the voice capabilities of the device
The device also supports your Laptop / Desktop PC earphone and microphone. By inserting a Vfone RUIM you can use your Evo device to make/receive voice calls or send/receive SMS.

Very successful product of PTCL. Speed is even better than the DSL on wireline. I like this very much.
@ Abid Ali— what about the Customer Support, i guess u forgot the fact here, that the same customer support is handling this china toy by PTCL as well. Below average product by PTCL.
@Rashid i tend to agree with you regarding the customer support (one of the reason i got this instead of PTCL one) but then again customer service might not be number 1 priority of all individuals
PTCL EVDO is basically suck its really painful device i never get speed more then 1 mb in off peak time and its .75 or less then in peak time so im just want to ask new user dont go for this dam conection
it is not too good coz i never got speed up to 500kb and it says that it is 3.1mbps

I use this device at different locations in Lahore. speed is different in all location. At Cantt, speed is 2mb to 3mb. at karim block, iqbal town, speed is 1.5 to 2mb. at jahanzeb block, iqbal town, speed sucks. its about less than 128kbkb. At Egerton Road, speed is 1mb to 2mb.
I contacted ptcl support regarding slow speed at iqbal town. i asked if any external antenna etc is available. the guy told me he’s noted the problem and would tell techs to boost tower signal in my area as it is adjustable setting. But it seems they failed to boost it in 2 months.
I am using this device for sometime now. Initial cost is high + the Customer Support sucks. One can only pray that all stays smooth otherwise the CS people don’t know a thing. All they say is what is the error that is being displayed and someone will get back to you in 24 hours

I paid Total 8000/= on 15 July 2009 for PTCL EvDo USB . First month net speed was Very Good – No problem in msn + GoogleTalk – Video & Voice chat . But Since From 17- Aug 2009 Till Today 24 Aug .The Net speed has been gone down i am unable to connect Video & Voice on msn & Google Talk .Even unable to download emails in Explorer . I am using my USB in a New Laptop – F.B.Area Block 19 . i have been complaining about Signals since last 10 days but No result …..

I’ve bee using it for over a month now and one thing that I do know is that its performance largely depends upon where u use it. I live in DHA Islamabad and the signal quality there isn’t that good so I usually end up getting 1 Mbps with occasional bursts of up to 2 Mbps. But my office is in I-9 Islamabad and when I use EVO in office I get an average speed of 2.5 Mbps with occasional bursts of up to 3.0 Mbps. So in a nutshell PTCL can do much better by improving the signal strength in affected areas but this product isnt a total flop. For anyone who requires mobility this is probably the best option available for now but if ur gonna use a desktop (and have a telephone line) then go for the DSL.

If someone is ready to buy a wireless usb connection so dont ever buy of PTCL! It is one of the worst broadband internet connection. I have taken its test drive in ptcl gulshan office and when downloading a setup from Microsoft website, it downloades with the speed of 45 -60 kbps. Can you believe it?
They call it 3G Wireless Broadband which they say its a 3.1 MBps connection. Its just a shit!
3.1 Mbps means that a user should get at least 200-300kbps!
Therefore its a flop invention of PTCL!!
PTCL DSL Broadband is far more better than it!
WorldCall in wireless is much bore better than PTCL. On a 256Kbps connection it gives 30kbps

Speed is a dependent on how far away you are located from BTS Tower , how many users are currently connected / Downloading from the same tower Further in ISLAMABAD I/9-2 Area it is 2MB plus with contention ratio of 40:1 ( 3.1MB) shared pipe..

very bad services, it can not work in work as well as in my home but i was very happy six months before. but now this service is very poor on 13 kb per/ s speed. Please do not waste time and money over this useless thing.

I bought this device 1 year earlier. At begning it was just O.K but it really sucks. I m using in Samanabad, & Gulberg III Lahore. Most of the time speed is less than 256 kbps. Now i stoped using this. Its really very bad bad & bad service. Dont go for this. Its totally waste of money & constant source of tension. Very bad customer service even they dont know much. I dont know y these employes are hired in the department.
Suggest you to never buy this source of tension & anxiety.

It is a failure… I am sitting at a same place an signals will rise n fall drastically and too frequently… speed is terribly low.. i get around 30KBps … im not even getting max 100KBps… only usable in very limited areas very near to ptcl towers…
useless… cant do any voice chat or screen sharing… cant watch videos… dont go for it it will make u cry..
Another Crap thing invented by PTCL and EVERYONE knows that its ALWAYS a miracle if someone is there to attend the phone.Else you ALWAYS be waiting for someone to pick up the phone and till then you enjoy their ads.
I believe such crap thing must not be in business EVER!!!. I purchased it yesterday and i think it’s my life’s BIG BIG Blunder on wasting money for this. I could not see a Stable internet in last more than 24 hours and Support Says it may be a problem with my System. May be problems and viruses only attack PTCL EVO and NEVER Worldcall….I Don’t know really.

PTCL cannot solve your problems so their downfall going so rapidly, (3.1 Mbps shard in 60 users) this company makes us fool and one day they gone/windup from Pakistan.
Well i have been using this thing evo for the last two months
i am located at G-8/1 sector islamabad but the speed i am getting their is very disappointing.i have also used ptcl DSL IMB package and i am convinced that DSL 1MB is much better than EVODO… at least it is consistant…
they say that evo is available in Attock but i have used this device at Attock city but most of times i got very slow speed .. and sometimes it was on 1 x mode…
i don’t know what ptcl is up to. they are selling their products by good marketing but are not improving their setup and technalogy
please don’t buy this evo thing rather go for DSL packages as they are much better.
Thank you everyone I was planning to buy PTCL EVo. Now I will never ever buy it. I am using Worldcall Evdo and it also sucks. Bottom line is internet sucks in Pakistan and the they don’t have technical staff to resolve issues.

ptcl is making a foool out of all the people.unlike the broadband where every user is getting its own ip adrees they are giving 8-10 users the same ip adress for evo so its mean that 3.1 is divided by 8 u can imagine the speed then………………….PTCL EVO sucks

Do not purchase evo 3.1 mb because i am using that is is just like v-wireless phone internet and they are just scaming becuase i am receive 23-33 ky dowload speed that is also gives by ptcl wireless set that is so shamfull for ptcl in peshawar. again do not purchases evo wire less becuase they are money theft
i m using ptcl EVDO device but the performance of this is not satisfied according to its fee
sometime speed become very low and even at 3mb buffring occurs. i think ptcl is cheating all evdo users.

If anyone intends to by PTCL Evo Nitro, I would advise to through the money in garbage bin instead. It has bad coverage even in the capital city and hardly connects at 100 kbps instead of 9.3 mbps.
