I am also using Wi-tribe its works perfectly, at Saffora Chowk Karachi.
256kbps with 750/=Rs Monthly and 5GB Download,
2 to 3 Green Signal bars.

Well they have not set up their network in Multan yet so I am still with Wateen.
I am bit happy with wateen except their overcharging.Nobody can know their formula of charging(inside story not advertised).Otherwise their service is good.

So let wait and see for Wi Tribe to come to Multan,At least they offer some competition.

At least we are better of dial up connection age.

1mbps speed pertains to maximum THEORETICAL data speed of the plan being offered. meaning, its only imaginary. it is based on computations. the actual speed (THROUGHPUT) of the plan you avail will be computed as max theoretical data rate less 20% of the max (if im not mistaken). so if you avail the 1mbps plan the actual bandwidth (data rate) that you will get is only around 700kbps-800kbps. because it is wireless. it is prone to any attenuation (signal degradation) it will encounter in the air. that is why you have the less 20% in the computation to include all the losses the signal will take to reach your modem.

1mbps=theoretical
1mpbs less 20% of max = your throughput.

please do take note that the speed or data rate will vary depending on your location. how far or near you are from the access point that serves you. the walls, trees, any obstruction around you will also contribute to signal interference.

its still better to ask the service provider to what is causing the low data rates and what can they do to resolve the problem.

I purchased a 998 plan today. I thought the 1mbps speed plan is unlimited. how come we have to pay for an extra amount for us to maintain the netspeed? this sucks. really… at first, i was a bit amazed because of the speed when i browse but when I played some games in facebook like poker, geez it really sucks.

DONT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME WITH WI-TRIBE. After more than 10 days since date of purchase, and after having done all the troubleshooting by their tech support, here is my email to them.

Hello Wi-Tribe,

Yesterday, May 12, 2010, Mr. TATS of your technical support visited my wi-tribe unit in Malabon and made some troubleshooting. I believe you have his report by this time, that I have 4 to 5 bars lit on my modem. I had to bring the modem to my house in Mindanao Avenue, Novaliches to test the connection further. But until 11:30 pm of that same day, my connection even got worse, speedtest.net won’t even push through (how can i even send you the images of my ping, speedtest and tracert).

That’s it for me. I am done with your LOUSY SERVICE. I am now TERMINATING our business transaction. I am demanding a FULL REFUND. Return to me the amount of Nine Hundred Ninety Eight Pesos (Php998) and I will return your modem. Or you can spend more than 998 filing lawsuits. Unless you can guarantee that you can fix this intermittent connection problem by Monday, May 17, 2010.

Wi-TRibe sucks..!! U pay what 998Php per month… once u use up the fucking Cap limit w/c is 6gig ure 1mbps will go down 156kpbs ..

We pay for unlimited internet here… were looking for CONSTANT speeds… Wi-Tribe sure sucks.. im regreting having been connected with this piece of shit… This is a waste of money…

I have been using Wi-Tribe for 6 months.
My start was good as i called the sales number, They just asked the address and said we will call you in like 10 minutes.
It wasn’t even a minute, i got a call and the salesman said to keep a copy of NIC which i did and i will be there in an hour. Well, it wasn’t exactly an hour but like 45 minutes and he came. Tested the signal strength from his laptop and poop goes the connection to me.
In the 1st month, i had only one issue which was http://www.gmail.com would never open. After lodging a complaint, the following month it got fixed.
In the day it’s like 120-150kbps (kilo bytes per second) for 1mb (actually 1024 kilobits which equals 100kilo bytes per second. Know the conversions!!!!!!!
At night the speed stinks goes below 70kbps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whatever one says. Wi-Tribe has two things that cannot be compared:
1) Service
2) Quality
That’s all for my 1st six months.
Still waiting for 2mb package

Wi-tribe 512k Economical Package speed is very very slow , Even if you live near booster and have good signals. and i can’t watch youtube clips smoothly. Also helpline and sales number 111 187 423 is Always busy busy busy busy even if you want to contact with there sales department , they mention 7gb monthly limit on website tarrif but its actually only 5gb a month. so its another lie. To avoid negative comments please improve your service and give more limit in packages.
