World call announced the EvDo services some time back. currently these are being offered only in Karachi but PTCL was able to come back with EvDO of their own read about it here and reviewed here.

I was lucky enough to find again on Wired Pakistan some actual user reviews for Worldcall EvDO services.

I bought my world call EVDO connection (512 kbps) 20 days ago. Initially the downloading / browsing was good but the performance is going down rapidly day by day. I get a download speed of 10-40 kbps max using internet download manager (avg : 25 kbps) and the signal strength is above red (living in north nazimabad).

How ever this may or may not be an isolated incident

Some body really took out the time and tested it at different times. You can observe the change during peak and off peak hours

Connection: 1 Mbps
Signal: Full 5
Color Strenght: First 6 bars of yellow and rarely 3 bars of red

Location: P.E.C.H.S Block 6

Color Strenght: First 3 bars of red constant and sometime full red signals

The plus point of worldcall is again the USB Device which is a severe short coming for PTCL but every thing is not rosy for worldcall either.

No matter how good the EVDO service is, their billing system is pathetic,

But these are healthy signs for us with Wimax gaining momentum on one side, EvDO trying to capture customers on the other and broadband prices free falling, for us consumers golden time can be around the corner.
